The Community Day: Pasture and Farm Open House is an opportunity for members, families, and the local community to explore mountain pastures, understand sustainable farming practices, and engage directly with the association’s activities. This event celebrates rural life, education, and the value of collective stewardship.
The day begins with a welcome and orientation session, introducing participants to the history, mission, and objectives of the association. Members will present an overview of the pastures, livestock, and environmental projects, highlighting achievements from the year and future initiatives.
A guided pasture tour follows, allowing attendees to see firsthand the rotational grazing areas, water sources, and biodiversity zones. Participants will learn about sustainable pasture management, native plant species, and wildlife habitats. Experts will answer questions and provide practical advice for anyone interested in adopting similar practices at home or on their land.
The afternoon includes interactive workshops for both adults and children. Activities include soil testing demonstrations, identification of plant and animal species, and hands-on learning about winter pasture preparation. Children and families will have opportunities to engage with the animals, learning about livestock care and the connection between responsible farming and environmental stewardship.
The day concludes with a community discussion and networking session, encouraging participants to share ideas, experiences, and strategies for sustainable farming and community engagement. The event strengthens local connections, fosters collaboration, and promotes understanding of mountain pastoral life.
This free open house offers an immersive and educational experience, connecting the community with the land, the farmers, and the practices that sustain Ustou’s pastures.
