Date: November 5, 2025
Location: Association premises, Ustou
The Biodiversity and Wildlife in Mountain Pastures event offers a detailed exploration of the flora and fauna found in Ustou’s pastoral landscapes. Participants will learn how responsible farming practices support biodiversity and contribute to ecological stability.
The day begins with an interactive lecture on the importance of biodiversity. Experts will present case studies demonstrating how diverse plant and animal species improve pasture resilience, prevent soil erosion, and support sustainable grazing. The session will include an overview of local wildlife, including species that depend on mountain pastures for survival, and guidance on balancing farming activities with habitat protection.
After the lecture, attendees will participate in a field survey of local pastures. Participants will identify native plant species, examine soil conditions, and observe wildlife habitats. Guided by ecologists and experienced pastoralists, attendees will learn practical techniques for promoting biodiversity, such as creating buffer zones, managing invasive species, and rotating grazing areas.
The afternoon session focuses on interactive workshops where participants design biodiversity enhancement plans for their own pastures. These plans include habitat preservation, pasture improvement, and monitoring techniques. Attendees will leave with practical tools to implement immediate changes that support wildlife and plant diversity while maintaining pasture productivity.
A roundtable discussion concludes the event, emphasizing the integration of biodiversity conservation with sustainable livestock management. Participants will share experiences, discuss challenges, and develop strategies to balance ecological preservation with productive farming.
This free event offers a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of mountain ecosystems, foster collaboration among farmers, and develop practical approaches to support both agriculture and the environment.
